About
The University was established in 1993 after acquiring accreditation decision number 848 by the Higher Education Council to commence teaching. The University received its first group of undergraduates in the academic year 1993/1994 and held its first graduation ceremony in 1997.
The University:
1. Has general accreditation for a capacity of 10000 students.
2. Has Specific accreditation for all its study programs.
3. Is working and contributing member in many academic organizations locally, regionally and internationally.
Since its foundation, the University witnessed a steady progress on all levels and in all avenues of academic and administrative. Also, the university infrastructure is expanded and improved over the years to include 7 faculties, with total of 34 study programs, 26 of which for Bachelor degrees and 8 for Master degrees.
The overall number of graduates to date is 26820 in all programs of study with 116 Master degree graduates. The total number of students studying at present is 7515 students with 248 postgraduate students, which is about 2% of the overall number of students. The University has 1672 foreign students and that is about 20% of its total capacity, 29 of these students are postgraduates.
The University has 310 faculty members and 534 administrative and technical staff with a 1.9: 1 ratio between administrative and academic staff.
