GC Women University Sialkot
About
In the heart of the city, there lies Government College Women University, Sialkot. It is considered to be the best educational institution of the area. As a college it was inaugurated by the respectable Miss Fatima Jinnah, Mather-e-Millat, on 1st December, 1951 and the first principal was Miss A. Muneem-ud-Din. The College was initiated with only 32 students and 10 faculty members, later multiplied to almost 5000 students and almost 80 faculty members. The F. A. classes started in 1951, F. Sc. classes in 1952 and B. Sc. in 1960. The college was upgraded to a Post Graduate college in 1989 offering masters in the subjects of English, Urdu and Islamiyat. B. S. four year degree programs were introduced by the Higher Education Department in 2010. Keeping in view the University’s immense educational growth rate, it attained the status of First Women University in Sialkot and was renamed as the Government College Women University, Sialkot. This university facilitates the women of Sialkot and neighboring colleges of the area in getting quality education in their own district. This ancient educational institution imparts knowledge and ensures the personal growth of students. It is playing a vital role for the public both locally and nationally.
