The mission of UOG is to equip the youth in the areas of economy, social policy and research, so as to enable them to compete at the international level; achieve excellence in research and teaching in all disciplines; and develop a world class centre of excellence in the industrial triangle of Gujranwala, Gujrat and Sialkot to help the industry and society at large through research-based initiatives. An alumnus of prestigious seats of higher learning, including the University of Leeds, UK, Dr Zia Ul-Qayyum brings along teaching, research, and management experience of two and a half decade. An educationist of national and international acclaim, Dr Zia has to his credit conceiving, planning, establishing, and developing higher learning institutions and R&D organizations. His current assignment as Vice Chancellor of the University of Gujrat, precedes a challenging appointment as the head of recently established but thriving Campus of National University of Computer & Emerging Sciences at Chiniot-Faisalabad.
