Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow (SGPGI)

Located in the Indian city of Lucknow - the capital of Uttar Pradesh, a northern region with 200 million inhabitants - the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) is a specialist medical institution. SGPGI offers postgraduate medical training while also functioning as a working hospital, ensuring its students get first-hand experience alongside their studies.

Established in 1983, the institute is named after the politician Sanjay Gandhi. It covers 700 acres in total and consists of 29 academic departments. As well as offering residency programs in various specialities, the institute also has a vast research library, containing more than 21,000 books and subscriptions to nearly 450 scientific journals. 

Accommodation on campus takes two forms, with students living in either single-occupancy rooms or apartments, although the latter are subject to availability. Recreational facilities on campus include a sports complex and a swimming pool.
