Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE)

The University offers 95 undergraduate presencial courses and three long distance learning undergraduate courses. According to the evaluation of the Coordination of High Level Personnel Training (Capes), the UFPE stands out for post graduation courses as the best university in the North and Northeast. Currently, UFPE offers 116 post-graduation stricto sensu courses. UFPE is the seventh top university in the country in numbers of research groups, with a total number of 464 research groups at the University, which represent 2% of the national total. Of the total 2.339 researchers from UFPE, 1.816 have Doctorate Degrees. The evaluation was made by the National Council of Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). UFPE researchers have focused on the areas considered strategic for the region: Oil and Gas, Energy and Biomass, Bioengineering and Naval Engineering, Environment, Drugs and Medicaments; Nanoscience, Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials, Archaeological and Patrimonial Metrology, Computer Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Health Science.
