Université de Tours

François Rabelais University, named after the French writer François Rabelais, was initially created by grouping together several pre-existing educational institutions in 1969. Based in the city of Tours, the university has seven different campuses, and is also comprised of seven different academic departments:

•  Arts and Humanities
• Center for Advanced Renaissance Studies
• Department of Law, Economics and Social Sciences
• Department of Literature and Languages
• Department of Medicine
• Department of Sciences and Technology
• Department of Pharmacy
  

The university also has two technology institutes: the Tours University Institute of Technology and the Blois University Institute of Technology.

The university’s student body (numbering approximately 20,000) benefit from the historic, intimate city center of Tours, with plenty to see, do and explore while you study here. The city has more than 7,500 shops, concert halls, cinemas, a Fine Arts museum and much more. Plus, Paris is just less than one hour away by TGV.
