A private Catholic research university based in Pennsylvania, Villanova University takes its name from Saint Thomas of Villanova, a noted Spanish preacher and historical writer. It is the only Augustinian university in the United States, and the majority of students are Catholics. The university administration are also led by priests and all students must take a ‘Augustine and Culture’ seminar in their first year.
Over the years, students at Villanova University have developed various myths about the campus and its buildings, including rumored secret tunnels and catacombs. There are also several allegedly haunted buildings, based around the fact parts of campus were used as a military hospital during both the American Civil War and World War One.
A little over 27 percent of students who apply to study at Villanova University are accepted, with the average GPA score ranging between 4.13 and 4.47.
