Bates College

A private liberal arts college based in the US state of Maine, Bates College was founded in the mid-1800s as the first coeducational college in the area. The college has only around 1,800 students enrolled for study, making it a highly selective institution with around 12 percent of applicants being offered a place. It also has some of the most expensive tuition fees in the United States.

Undergraduate degrees at Bates College cover the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and engineering. Joint degrees offered in conjunction with other universities and colleges are also available. The college is also notable for achieving carbon neutral status in 2019 as a result of concerted efforts to make the college more sustainable.
