Ranked joint-first in India for Statistics & Operational Research in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2017, the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) was founded in 1931 and is based in northern Kolkata, India. The university also has teaching centers in Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Tezpur. As its name suggests, the institute specializes in teaching mathematics, statistics and other related subjects.
