Universidad Alberto Hurtado (UAH) was founded in 1997 by the Society of Jesus with the purpose of building on the research and graduate programs initiated by the Latin American Institute of Doctrine and Social Studies (ILADES), the Center for Research and Education Development (CIDE) and Roberto Bellarmino Foundation which commenced in the middle of the sixties Since its founding mission, UAH has been conceived as an institution with a strong vocation for public service. Its contribution to the human development and the promotion of a more just society, both in Chile and Latin America, becomes visible through the excellence level of an academic, intellectual and professional work, characterized by a Christian, humanist, pluralist vision and a deep ethical and social sense. Currently UAH has more than 4,500 students enrolled in 28 undergraduate programs, 18 master’s degree, 41 certificates and one PhD., consolidating itself as one of the main universities in the following areas: Social Sciences, Humanities, Philosophy, Education, Law and Psychology. The Internationalization is another distinctive element of our academic project.
