The Universidad del Istmo, founded in 1987, is among the best universities in the Republic of Panama. It has 8 Educational Centers in David, La Chorrera, Los Pueblos, Santiago, Colon, Chitré, Penonomé and Changuinola, and its central campus in Panama City.

The Universidad del Istmo is a virtual learning pioneer, sponsored by the Ilumno Network, and international network of prestigious institutions of higher education that share the dream of transforming education and improving lives by offering face-to-face, distance and online programs. We also offer high-level face-to-face education with recognized teachers in their work area at Panama.

Our mission is to transform the development of Higher Education through research, internationalization, technological innovation and accessibility, through sustainable actions of quality.

Currently, the university focuses on the labor insertion of its students by listening to the employer’s sectors of the country such as private companies and the public sector, so that professionals can be taught in the areas that the labor sector needs and thus guarantee employability. For this reason, one of the mandatory parameters of the university is the realization of internships in all careers, which are often found by the university through the alliances that currently exist with different companies through our employability center.

Likewise, the university has focused on including on its curricular development the strengthening of soft skills within all its academic offerings, in order to graduate professionals preparing for any work environment, with emotional control, responsiveness and resilience, excellent coexistence and teamwork, among other skills necessary for work development.
