BOKU is the only Austrian university to focus on Natural Resources and Life Sciences in its broadest sense.
In the “Green university ranking 2012”, BOKU has rank 8 in Europe (rank 1 in German-Speaking countries) and rank 21 worldwide http://greenmetric.ui.ac.id/id/page/ranking-2012
Further Scientific “highlights”:
•~ 700 ongoing research projects, among them ~ 100 funded by the EU framework programme, ~ 110 by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) , successful participation in several Austrian and European excellence programmes (FWF, COMET, Christian Doppler, Laura Bassi, WWTF, ERC, ...)
•~ 2500 scientific publications per year (~ 604 in SCI/SSCI journals), ~ 1400 scientific presentations per year
•More than 30 new professors appointed in 2013
•Two ERC starting grants
•Founding of the Centre for Development Research(2010)
•New laboratory and office building „Muthgasse 3“ (2009)
•University and Research Centre Tulln (2011)
