Walailak大学

Walailak University is designed as a comprehensive university (with a variety of fields of study) to serve the people of Thailand. Walailak University graduates are expected to have practical intelligence, adversary quotient, Liberal Arts perspective and technology competence, all integrated with high moral. All activities are designed to enhance Walailak University’s uniqueness in its ultimate goal to become “The Education Park of ASEAN” where all the global citizens can find the riches in the knowledge, wisdom and culture. Research carried out by University faculty and graduate students is focused primarily on computer science, environmental science, experimental physics, computational sciences, and gives particular attention to areas that are of direct social and economic benefit to the southern region of Thailand, including wood science and engineering, Black Tiger prawns farming, orchard farming, bio-diversity, extracting natural products and herbal medicines from plants, etc. Research in the humanities and social sciences covers issues in the Muslim majority southern border provinces, cultural traditions in the south, Southeast Asian studies (especially Indonesia and Malaysia), and local resource management in the southern region.
